2. About EUniTa and this site
This website (the “Site”) was created by the EU Erasmus+ project European University Tandem (“EUniTa”), coordinated by Goethe University Frankfurt am Main (“GU”), Theodor-W.-Adorno-Platz 1, 60323 Frankfurt am Main, Germany.
EUniTa offers language learning by matching registered users into an eTandem through an automated process. EUniTa provides optional learning materials and support. There is no integrated text chat and no integrated video chat. Communication between matched partners takes place by email.
EUniTa is open to students and staff members of affiliated partner institutions (“Members”). Registration requires a valid university email address from a partner institution.
3. Scope
These Terms govern the use of the EUniTa App and the connected WordPress site. Conflicting user terms do not apply.
4. Eligibility and registration
- Eligibility is limited to students and staff of partner institutions.
- Registration requires a valid university email address. Without it you cannot use the service.
- Information must be truthful and kept up to date in your profile.
- Access and transition between the website and the app use Single Sign On.
5. Services and availability
- EUniTa matches language learning tandems using an algorithm that considers target language, proficiency level and optional filters (for example academic field, internal matches within the same university, and interests).
- No integrated chat. No integrated video chat. Communication between matched partners takes place by email.
- Optional learning materials may be provided.
- No entitlement to a particular match, outcome or permanent availability.
6. Certificates section
- If provided, you may participate after free registration.
- The name given at registration appears on certificates. No identity verification is performed.
- Certificates can be unlocked after completing defined learning units and short tests.
- No entitlement to ECTS recognition.
7. Account, profile and user content
- Required data: name, university email, password, language settings.
- Data needed for matching include academic field, native and foreign languages with levels, interests. Optional: profile picture, biography, phone number.
- The phone number is only shown in the dashboard and is not sent by email.
- You are responsible for content you provide and for respecting third party rights.
8. Permitted use and prohibitions
Do not use the service to
a) provide false identities or information,
b) post unlawful, discriminatory, harassing, violent, pornographic or harmful content,
c) send advertising, mass messages or spam,
d) circumvent security, decompile software or use automated scraping,
e) introduce malware or disrupt operations,
f) collect or publish personal data of others without consent,
g) infringe copyrights, trademarks or personality rights.
EUniTa may remove content and suspend or terminate accounts in case of violations.
9. Rights in content and licences

Please provide the URL or a screenshot, a description, the legal basis and your contact details. Obviously unlawful content can be blocked or removed without prior notice.
12. Third party content, links and providers
External links lead to services of third parties. Their providers are solely responsible for their content. EUniTa gives no warranty for accuracy, availability or legality of external content.

Web analytics with Matomo is used only with consent. Google reCAPTCHA is used for abuse prevention. See the Privacy Policy for details.
14. Warranty and liability
The app is provided free of charge and as available. No warranty for error-free operation, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose, availability, matches or learning success.
Unlimited liability applies for intent and gross negligence and for injury to life, body or health. For simple negligence EUniTa is liable only for breach of essential duties and limited to the typical foreseeable damage. Product liability remains unaffected.
15. Termination and deletion
You may delete your account at any time. After deletion your profile remains inactive for 30 days and is not visible. After that personal data are permanently deleted, subject to statutory retention duties. EUniTa may terminate for cause in case of serious or repeated violations.
16. Changes to these terms
Changes may be made for valid reasons (for example legal changes or functional adjustments). Registered users will be informed by email. Continued use after the effective date constitutes consent where legally permitted.
17. Online dispute resolution and consumer ADR

Goethe University is not obliged and not willing to participate in consumer dispute resolution before a consumer arbitration board.
18. Governing law and venue
German law applies. Mandatory consumer protection rules of the EU member state of your habitual residence remain unaffected. The exclusive place of jurisdiction for all disputes arising out of or in connection with these Terms or your use of the Site is Frankfurt am Main, to the extent permitted by law.
19. Contract language
The contract language is German. Translations are for convenience. In case of deviations the German version prevails.
